The quality of furniture online has gone down across the internet mostly because of cheap goods from China.
China has been a significant source of imported furniture for many years due to its lower manufacturing costs a.k.a cheap.
This is why Wayfair furniture arrives in many pieces and requires extensive assembly.
If you read the reviews for the item you are thinking about buying, you will see that often times, the pieces they ship to you do not fit together.
Imported furniture from China or other countries is prevalent in the U.S., but there are also many American furniture manufacturers and craftsmen producing high-quality furniture. You’ll have to find them.

Shoddy shipping and delivery methods
I have never received an item from Wayfair that was in excellent condition. The furniture is shipped from the warehouse broken or damaged during delivery. No white glove service there!
People who purchase furniture on Wayfair, usually wind up having to dispose of bulky furniture themselves that arrived broken. Many of these people cannot lift the furniture on their own and need to hire someone to dispose of it for them. Wayfair does not cover this cost.
Wayfair furniture delivery is also subpar because you need to pay extra for them to bring it into your home. If you do not pay this extra fee, they will leave your furniture outside your door, rain, sleet, or snow. They seldom even ring the doorbell!
Assembly not included
Since the furniture arrives unassembled in a box, many Wayfair customers are not aware of the damage until the furniture is removed from the box and assembled. By this time the delivery driver is long gone and Wayfair will ask why you approved the delivery if it was broken. It’s typically a bad situation.
The quality of Wayfair furniture is so bad most of the time that people often require power tools to complete the assembly.
Is the quality of Wayfair furniture good if it arrives broken and in a million pieces that need power tools to finish building it?
Wayfair employee secrets
Wayfair insiders told Lyric’s Spot that not all vendors require you to return damages. This means that it’s up to you to trash it and either take a refund or wait for the next shipment.
In addition, customer service reps are encouraged and rewarded for the speed at which they get customers off the phones and avoiding refunds.

Wayfair customer service
Customer service is good despite how horrible their furniture quality is. Their reps are bombarded daily with complaints and shipping issues.
Items that arrive broken are usually replaced free of charge, but it’s a gamble as to whether you want to wait weeks for delivery and take the same risk.
Items often arrive damaged more than once and the reps would rather send out a new shipment than issue any refunds.
The 4.4 star rating is not likely for the quality of furniture, but for the customer service agents that try to please customers with re-ships and store credit.
Wayfair Buyer Beware
Wayfair has trendy furniture that looks amazing but is poor quality. It is a crap shoot as to whether your item will arrive in decent condition. The furniture may feel cheap, but costs a pretty penny.
Wayfair stock is plummeting and the company is suffering. According to Motley Fool, “Operating losses landed at $490 million in the first half of 2023 compared to $680 million in the prior-year period. Free cash flow is still negative, too.”
Wayfair appears to be losing tons of money on these poor quality products and atrocious shipping methods.
Our advice is to sort through to the lowest reviews and decide if it’s worth taking the chance, and buyer beware!
