Before I got my breast implants I did tons of research and it took many years before finally pulling the trigger. Now I’m 1 year post op, and I can tell you there are many things women aren’t talking about that would have been nice to know. Here are 20 questions about breast implants answered.

1. How long does it take to recover from breast implants?
My doctor was able to perform what’s called a “rapid recovery” procedure in which it decreases recovery time for most patients. On the first day I wanted to rest because I was still a bit lethargic after the anesthesia. By the second day, I was able to enjoy my day in a cute outfit with my bandages on. I went out to breakfast!
After the surgery I didn’t have much pain because I kept up with my pain meds which was just an over the counter pain killer. I was prescribed something stronger but I decided not to take it.
Initially it feels like something is sitting on your chest and it was difficult to sit up on my own because I didn’t have use of many muscle groups in my upper body.
My breast journey is documented in the video below. Enjoy!
I definitely needed help with everyday things including caring for my 3 year old son. This changed somewhere around the 4 week mark but I had improvement in mobility at 2 weeks.
2. Do breast implants look smaller at first?
YES! The breast implants did look smaller and I was afraid that I had gone too small and would not see much change in my body shape, however my doctor explained to me that the breast implants would “fluff” or drop into place and look more full.
You can see in my videos and the photos above how high the breast implants were sitting until this occurred around 4 weeks later.
3. How do breast implants feel inside you?
This is one subject I wish more women talked about. For the most part you cannot feel your implants inside of you. They just feel like part of you, however there are times when I feel tingling or itching. This may be due to the implant pressing against certain nerves.
This feeling is not uncomfortable. It just feels like an itch.

4. What will my breast implants look like after pregnancy?
I have already had all of my children prior to surgery, but I do have a friend who just had a baby. During her pregnancy, the breasts looked even larger because of weight gain and mammary glands.
After a year, her breasts still look amazing! They are perky, she has wonderful cleavage, and is one hot momma!
5. Why do women get breast implants?
Women get breast implants for different reasons, but the biggest reason that I hear is that they want to look better in their clothes. Women love shopping and there may be certain styles they would love to wear but don’t necessarily have the breast volume to feel confident in it.
Some women get breast implants because they want to restore the breast volume they lost after having children. A mommy makeover is becoming more common as women age and their bodies change.
A women may choose to get breast implants because she is having reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy.
Women also get breast implants to boost their careers. Depending on the industry she’s in, she could need a fuller bust line in order to make more money in her line of work. This could be anything from modeling to sex work.
6. How long do breast implants last?
The older models of breast implants were recommended to be replaced, but today doctors advise that there is no reason to replace your breast implants unless you are having issues or there is a problem.
Many healthy women have had breast implants for many years with no issues. Check out this video below with Cara Brotman, who has had the same breast implants for decades with no issues. Find out why.
7. How much do breast implants weigh?
Breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters or cc. 100cc is equivalent to 100 grams. 100 grams is equivalent to .2lbs.
I received 400cc in one breast and 440cc in the other in order to achieve a nice symmetrical look that I did not have before. The 400cc implant weighs less than 1 pound and it increased my bra size by 2 cups.
I went from an A to a full C.
8. Can I get breast implants at 16?
The short answer is no, you cannot get breast implant at 16 because you are a minor and cannot legally enter into a contract or have elective surgery without a guardian’s signature. You must be 18 or older to get breast implants.
9. Do breast implants need to be replaced?
My surgeon’s office told me that there is no reason to replace or massage my breast implants after my surgery with him. The newer Gummy Bear implants do not require replacement.
Watch my fun interview here where we talk about this and other questions about post op healing.
10. How do I know when my breast implants need replacing?
Some reasons to replace implants include if they are ruptured or if you believe they are making you ill. An ultrasound can determine the condition of your breast implants and you can talk to your surgeon about whether or not they should be replaced.
11. Can a ruptured breast implant kill you?
Saline breast implants that rupture will leak the saline into your body. The advantage is that it is harmlessly absorbed by the body with little to no issues.
Liquid Silicone can be harmful if ruptured.
Gummy Bear implants have a cohesive filling that will not leak into the body if ruptured.
12. What happens if you don’t massage your breast implants?
You will have to follow the recommendations of your surgeon and follow their post op protocol. My doctor advised against massaging because of his personal technique and how he performs his surgery.
I went with Dr. Cappizzi Md. because of how many breast augmentations he performs, his wonderful bedside manner, and state of the art facilities and augmentation techniques.
13. Do breast implants itch?
Some patients report tingling in their breast area and they can feel itching in the first few days or weeks because of the breast implant pushing on muscles and nerve endings.
My implants were placed submuscular or under the muscle for a more natural look.
14. How soon after breast implant surgery can I lift weights again?
I did lift weights regularly prior to my surgery and I thought it would only be a month or 2 before i was comfortable lifting weights again, but it turned out to take a bit longer.
My surgeon recommended I wait at least 3 months, but i didn’t lift heavy again for 6 months.
I was able to pick up my 3 year old son after 2 months.
15. Will breast implants make me tired?
I have just as much energy as I did before the breast augmentation. If you are in poor shape then you cannot expect to be feeling awesome post op.
One year later and my breast implants do not make me feel tired or lethargic.
When I do need a boost of energy I drink a powerful green powder called Wild Force. One scoop of this in my smoothie is all I need for hours as I tackle the day.

19. Do women with breast implants have more fun?
I think so because we appreciate our boobs more!
20. Do women with breast implants become airheads?
Some people think that women with breast implants begin to act like air heads and I just think that is because of how women with breast implants had been portrayed in the media in the past.
I run my own social media business from home and I homeschool my children. Many women with implants are in high level positions in their places of business or run their own companies while looking amazing.
